Belize City. August 30, 2018.
The Anti-Trafficking in Persons Council of Belize (A-TIPS) is pleased to announce that 17-year-old Vince Villatoro of Orange-Walk is the winner of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons video competition. Villatoro won for his submission entitled “The Traffick”, which can be viewed at: https://youtu.be/kUpnkoRh-y0.
For his efforts, Villatoro received prizes valued at seven hundred dollars. Mike Hernandez Jr., Communication and Public Relations Officer at Belize Tourism Board (BTB), presented Villatoro with $500.00 courtesy of the BTB, while Margaret Nicholas, Executive Director of the National Committee for Families and Children (NCFC), awarded the teen with two $100 savings accounts at the National Bank of Belize.
The video competition was held in honour of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, which is observed yearly on July 30. The competition invited Belizeans over 13-years of age to produce a one to three-minute video on human trafficking and encouraged participants to be original, creative, and conduct research on the crime.
The A-TIPS Council expresses gratitude to the Belize Tourism Board and the National Bank of Belize for their sponsorship and looks forward to future collaborative efforts that help bring awareness to this crime.
